Summer of Champagne Kickoff With Champagne Roederer

We are thrilled to welcome back for another season, Knightsbridge Wine Shoppe's "Summer of Champagne!" What is now a Chicagoland institution is back. Kicking off Saturday, June 7th with the Champagnes (and others) from Louis Roederer. 

Louis Roederer stands as one of Champagne's most esteemed houses. Founded in 1776 and remaining family-owned through seven generations, Roederer cultivates over 240 hectares of vineyards, with a significant portion dedicated to organic and biodynamic farming practices. 

The house's flagship cuvée, Cristal, epitomizes its prestige. Originally created in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II of Russia, its distinctive clear, flat-bottomed bottle was designed to thwart assassination attempts, reflecting the opulence and exclusivity associated with the Russian court. Today, Cristal continues to symbolize luxury and refinement, crafted only in exceptional vintages from the finest Grand Cru vineyards.

Beyond Cristal, Louis Roederer's portfolio showcases a dedication to terroir and craftsmanship. The Collection series, including the latest Collection 244, represents a modern expression of Champagne, blending reserve wines with the current vintage to achieve complexity and balance. Their Rosé offers a delicate balance of red fruit aromas and subtle minerality, reflecting the elegance and finesse characteristic of Roederer's style. The l'Ermitage, normalloy made from 52% Chardonnay and 48% Pinot Noir, is amongst the best sparkling wines outside of the region.
