El Dorado - ICBU Single Barrel Rum
El Dorado rums are acclaimed for the attention to detail and preservation of rum distilling history, and their single barrel collection is one of the finest examples of that preservation. The ICBU offering was produced on a heritage 4-column Savalle still from the old Uitvlugt distillery (the mark ICBU stands for Uitvlugt’s first owner, Ignatius Charles Bourda Uitvlugt). The complex still produces a unique rum--honey-sweet on the nost, with notes of hazelnut and sherry; but bone-dry on the palate. Bottled at a very approachable 80 proof, there is plenty to discover in the glass.
El Dorado Description
The county of Demerara in Guyana has been steeped in the history of sugar and rum production since the 17th century. Today, Demerara Distillers Limited operates the last remaining distillery in Guyana at Plantation Diamond on the East Bank of the Demerara River, after having consolidated all the old original stills and marques which make Demerara Rum so distinctive.
