The 2022 vintage at Domaine Alex Moreau reflects a year of extremes, marked by record-setting weather patterns and one of the earliest harvests in the Domaine’s history. Beginning on August 25th, this harvest came in as the second earliest ever, pushing Alex and his team to adapt swiftly to the vintage’s demands. Despite the challenges, the wines exhibit a remarkable freshness that has captured the attention of critics and winemakers alike. Reflecting on this, Alex Moreau remarked, “(I) couldn’t expect the freshness at harvest.” This sentiment echoes Allen Meadows’ observation that, “What surprises me most about the (2022) reds is how fresh, and refreshing, they are.” Looking at our notes from our most recent visit, we are all in alignment on that.
The 2022 Bourgogne Blanc epitomizes this vibrancy, showcasing a rich profile of red apple and fresh lemon. Remarkably, it was the last site picked during the harvest, yet it retains an energetic acidity that underscores the vintage’s unique character.

Bursting with aromas of buttery pastry, freshly baked bread and pear, Moreau's 2022 Bourgogne Blanc is medium-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a charming core of fruit and a saline finish.

Fresh and bright aromas include those of pear, apple and just sliced citrus. There is fine volume to the fleshy and generously proportioned middleweight flavors that possess good energy that carries over to the clean and dry finale. This is a quality effort for its level and worth considering.
