Anne-Sophie Dubois introduced her wines to us a few years ago and we've been smitten with them ever since. This past January (which seems so long ago 2020) we were fortunate enough to take a trip to Fleurie to taste her wines and see her domaine.
At about 400m in elevation, her home and winery is right in the middle of her 8ha vineyards. With less of an influence from others, having to not share plots has allowed her to create her own ecosystem according to her philosophy. Largely, this means that she is free to operate organically with little interference from other growers. Anne-Sophie's harvests her up to 60 year old Gamay vines over 8-10 days, entirely by hand. It's "Very important to have beautiful grapes in the vat. Clean fruit is good because natural yeast is used." Fermentation includes whole clusters which she believes adds so much more beautiful fruit than "the other way." Her wines are subsequently vibrant and pure. They also benefit from not bogged down with lots of oak flavor. Anne-Sophie's youngest barrels are 3 years old.

The 2023 Fleurie Les Labourons aged in larger barrels for 13 months. This offers fresh dark plum and raspberry scents on the nose. The palate is well balanced with plush, saturated tannins, fine depth, grip and a bright, captivating finish. This is classy. What a superb Fleurie from Anne-Sophie Dubois!
