Four parcels, Les Seuvrées (below Charmes Chambertin) La Justice, Billard, and Le Forneau. A robust 2ha of vines planted between 1935 to 1995.
Benjamin Leroux’s wines are always exactingly made. No detail is overlooked in the vineyard, the cellar or, in a tasting. Ben insists on Zalto stems for tastings so though you spend a good portion of the time fretting that you will inevitably break your glass, you manage to hold on to at least some of Benjamin’s wisdom and insight. Though Ben only makes wine from a total of about 3.5ha of vineyards he has an impressive breadth with over 57* appelations from which we get to select. Top flight Grand Crus and 1er Crus are always excellent with Ben’s touch and his village and regional wines are some of Burgundy’s best. There is no desire to show off with excessive manipulation. Benjamin clearly captures each site’s unique characters with aplomb. As he's told us in his cellar "I fail when I have to add somethign in the wine. The less you do the better it is."

Burghound: 89 Points
An exceptionally pretty, even perfumed nose of various red berries is nuanced by hints of earth and the sauvage. The delicious, vibrant and appealingly textured, if not particularly dense, flavors do offer fine length on the balanced finale. This won't wow you with its concentration but the overall quality is better than average and this is worth a look.
