Chateau Perey Chevreuil consists of a contiguous 12ha vineyard purchased in 1997 by the Moquet family. It is 100% Merlot that’s grown in the area just south of Saint Emilion’s Plateau. This portion of Saint Emilion is based on sandy, gravelly soils from alluvial deposits of the Dordogne river in the Saint-Emilion valley between Libourne and Vignonet. Despite a reputation for these soils producing lighter styled wines there is still a nice richness to this wine. It has a deep ruby color with full-bodied flavors of red cherry, cassis and plum. A touch of spice and toasty oak rounds out the finish. Try this with a grinder or, eggplant curry.
