Chateau Le Pin Beausoleil - Bordeaux Superieur 2020
|Producer||Chateau Le Pin Beausoleil|
From the humble Bordeaux Superieur appellation Ingrid and Michael Hallek have been coaxing delicious, supple and flavorful wines with the help of Stephane Derenoncourt (Consultant to La Mondotte and Smith Haute Lafitte) since 2004. These are wines of substance and approachability without an astronomical price tag.
A holistic approach is applied to their vines which average 35 years old. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon are planted across their 5.8ha total vineyard. This trifecta generally serves as the base of the wine. Harvest is conducted by hand and fermentation happens spontaneously in cement tanks before aging in oak barrels of various sizes and toasts. Barrels are never more than 1yr old.
Antonio Galloni: 94 Points
The 2020 Le Pin Beausoleil is magnificent, just as it was en primeur. Silky, aromatic and nuanced, Le Pin Beausoleil is all class. Crushed flowers, mint, red cherry, red plum, mocha and espresso all open in the glass. Le Pin Beausoleil remains one of the most overlooked wines in all of Bordeaux.
James Suckling: 91-92 Points
Fresh and vivid Bordeaux Superieur with blackberry and blueberry character. Medium body. Round tannins. Extremely well crafted, as always.
The 2020 Le Pin Beausoleil is quite possibly the single greatest under-the-radar wine in all Bordeaux. Fine and classically build, the 2020 sizzles with energy from start to finish. Juicy dark cherry, gravel, lavender, spice and mocha fill out the layers as this stiking Bordeaux Superieur shows off its considerable charms.
