In the early months of 2014, Château Poesia underwent a significant transformation as it was acquired by the dynamic duo of Helene Garcin and Patrice Leveque. The estate, previously recognized as Château Haut Villet, found new life under their stewardship. The name itself, Château Poesia, translated to "Poet," was imbued with meaning drawn from the Garcin family's Mendoza property in Argentina, where they tend to 13 hectares of venerable, un-grafted Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon vines, harkening back to plantings from 1935.
Nestled in the eastern expanse of Saint-Émilion, on a lofty plateau of limestone, Château Poesia holds a prime position. A trio of prestigious neighbors—Valandraud, Château Peby Faugères, and Château Fleur Cardinale—adds to the allure of its locale. The vineyards of Château Poesia sprawl across 9.7 hectares on the Right Bank, where a symphony of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon cultivars flourish. This vineyard jewel enjoys an elevated perch, a high plateau blessed with clay and limestone soils that bestow a distinctive terroir character.
The cradle of its vineyard is rooted in clay soil, while the underlying essence springs forth from the limestone-rich Plateau of Saint-Émilion. The blend largely reflects the planting of the vineyard, 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. The grapes are harvested via meticulous handpicking, while the winemaking process unfolds in 40 to 120-hectoliter concrete and stainless steel fermenting vats. A period of maturation lasts 18 to 24 months.
