Musigny Blanc 2023: Burgundy’s White Unicorn
Vogüé’s Musigny Blanc, drawn from a tiny 0.67-hectare parcel, remains one of Burgundy’s true unicorns. Rarity aside, what distinguishes this wine is its singular style. Exotic and intensely aromatic, it defies easy comparison within Burgundy. The 2023 offers a vivid expression of stone fruit, tart apple, and bright mineral tension, delivering both immediacy and depth in equal measure.
Vinous Media: 93-95 Points
The 2023 Musigny Blanc Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru has an intense nose with scents of peach skin, linseed oil and a dab of white truffle—finely delineated. The palate is well balanced with a sapid, spicy, lemongrass-tinged entry. As usual, there is a nod to the Rhône here, with wonderful weight and density on the finish. Superb.
Burghound: 91-93 Points
A moderately phenolic nose (olive oil nuances) is comprised by notes of citrus confit and whiffs of the exotic in the form of white peach, lychee and passion fruit. There is outstanding volume and richness to the succulent but decidedly powerful larger-bodied flavors that brim with minerality on the lemon-tinged finale that is firm and very dry but not especially austere.
Wine Advocate: 91-93 Points
The 2023 Musigny Blanc Grand Cru exhibits notes of elderflowers, crisp stone fruits, mint and wet stones, followed by a medium-bodied, pure and satiny palate that's bright and racy. The very fine selections of Chardonnay planted here actually present something of a conundrum, as their small berries ripen rapidly, easily delivering very exotic aromas and flavors.
