Les Vaudenelles is a high-elevation Marsannay site, rising above an old limestone quarry at 300–320 meters. The gently sloped, east-southeast exposure promotes balance and freshness. The Clair family farms 1.6 hectares of mature vines planted between 1969 and 1976, lending structure and depth to the wines.

From white marl soils at the top of the slope, Clair's 2021 Marsannay Les Vaudenelles offers up scents of sweet red berries, plums and petals. Medium-bodied, supple and melting, with a pure core of fruit, lively acids and a saline finish, it's an elegant, fine-boned red in the making. (WK)
