The name Denis Bachelet has become synonymous with elegance in Gevrey-Chambertin, and Denis' wines just keep getting more and more sublime. His Village Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes comes from just 1.23ha planted between 1932 and 1937. 100% destemmed and aged for 16 months in barrel (20% new oak) under Denis' careful watch, the wine exemplifies the Bachelet feel for finesse.

The wood regimen isn't subtle if not dominant on the markedly earth-inflected nose of notably ripe but fresh dark currant and poached plum aromas. There is once again good volume and richness to the solidly concentrated medium-bodied flavors that coat the mouth on the powerful, lightly austere and firm finale. This is a dense 2023 with lovely balance - one to strongly consider for its level.

The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is rich and creamy, delivering aromas of sweet cassis, berries, burning embers and spices, framed by a touch of new oak. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with a ripe core of fruit and supple tannins, it will offer a broad drinking window.
