Édouard Vocoret and his wife Eleni launched their own domaine in 2013 after meeting during the 2010 harvest in New Zealand and returning home to Chablis to farm a small portion of the Vocoret family holdings. Beginning with just 3.3 hectares, they set out with a clear purpose: work closely in the vineyards, farm sustainably, and bottle individual sites separately so each parcel could speak for itself. The modest size of the estate allowed them to know every row intimately, and from the outset their wines carried the energy of a new generation in Chablis — precise, site-transparent, and restrained in the cellar.
The Vocoret name itself runs deep in the region, with family roots stretching back to the mid-19th century. While the historic Domaine Vocoret & Fils today oversees extensive vineyards, Édouard and Eleni intentionally chose a more artisanal path, focusing on farming first and minimal intervention afterward. Influenced in part by mentorship from Vincent Dauvissat, they prioritize healthy fruit, balanced ripeness, and patient élevage to express mineral clarity rather than cellar technique. In 2023, Édouard inherited an additional five hectares — including premier crus and grand crus — bringing the estate to roughly ten hectares and allowing them to deepen their terroir-driven approach while remaining faithful to their hands-on philosophy.
Séchets, planted on warm yellow marl in tiny parcels dating to 1962, shows a more supple side of Chablis — generous fruit wrapped around bright, lifted minerality.
Burghound: 91-94 Points
Notes of dried citrus zest, apple, oyster shell and pear are trimmed in discreet petrol nuances. There is a bit more volume and richness to the medium weight flavors that flash more power if less refinement on the stony, citrusy and very dry finale. This should also drink reasonably well early if desired.
Wine Advocate: 91-93 Points
The inaugural release, Eleni & Edouard Vocoret’s 2023 Chablis 1er Cru Séchet has turned out beautifully. Derived from two plots amounting to 0.7 hectares and planted with massal selection Chardonnay in 1962, it’s southeast-facing and characterized by marl soils rich in fossils. It exhibits aromas of ripe citrus fruit, green apple, beeswax and oyster shell, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate that’s dry and satiny. While it bears some of the hallmarks of the vintage, the wine's mineral signature remains typical of Séchet, concluding with a pure, saline finish.
Vinous Media: 89-91 Points
The 2023 Chablis Séchet 1er Cru is another new cuvée inherited from the Vocoret family. This comes from deeper coils than the Chatains. It has a very cohesive bouquet, less expressive than the Chatains at the moment, though with impressive delineation. The palate is medium-bodied and less richer than the Chatains, very smooth in texture with crisp acidity and tension on the finish. Fine.
