The story of Azienda Agricola Tiberio begins in 2000, when Riccardo Tiberio discovered an extraordinary old plot of Trebbiano Abruzzese vines in the hills of Cugnoli, twenty-three miles inland from the Adriatic. Convinced of their potential, he left his export career and founded the family winery beneath the dramatic Majella and Gran Sasso mountains. Today, his children carry the torch: Cristiana, a chemist and educator in enology, leads winemaking and represents the estate internationally, while Antonio oversees viticulture. Together, they have established Tiberio as one of Abruzzo’s most respected estates, championing indigenous grape varieties and elevating the region’s reputation for authentic, world-class wines. From their 30 hectares of vineyards, farmed with a focus on precision and balance, the siblings produce benchmark expressions of Trebbiano, Montepulciano, and Pecorino that showcase both tradition and innovation.
The 2023 Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo is crafted entirely from estate-grown Montepulciano, sourced from limestone-rich vineyards at 350 meters altitude. Using only free-run juice, fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and without malolactic fermentation, the wine retains vibrant freshness and purity. In the glass, it shines a luminous ruby-pink, offering lifted aromas of wild berries, pomegranate, rose petals, and a hint of cedar. The palate is juicy yet refined, balancing ripe red fruit with stony minerality and bright acidity, finishing long with a subtle floral and savory twist.
