Indaco is a Super Tuscan in every sense. There are no native Italian grapes in it. It blends Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot together in the blend and is the only Super Tuscan I’m aware of based on Malbec. Set against the backdrop of the Tuscan coast, Tenuta Sette Cieli’s hillside vineyards sit atop a hill at 1,300 feet above sea level, between Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci, with sweeping views of the Mediterranean Sea. Planted between 2001 and 2016 in soils rich in clay (like Bordeaux), limestone, and stones, these 17 acres of high-density vines cultivate Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Their flagship wine, Indaco—Italian for “Indigo,” inspired by the twilight skies that cloak the estate—showcases a rare Malbec-dominant blend unique to Tuscany
