Egly-Ouriet has gained recognition for its unwavering commitment to crafting exceptional champagnes that showcase the terroir of their vineyards. The estate owns approximately 11 hectares (27 acres) of vineyards, primarily located in Grand Cru and Premier Cru classified villages, including the famed villages of Ambonnay, Bouzy, and Verzenay. Egly-Ouriet is based on Pinot Noir, a grape which thrives in these region's cooler climate and limestone-rich soils. Francis Egly took over in 1980 with a promise to elevate the family's already famous Champagnes. He committed to organic viticulture and lowered yields. Francis also bound the house to extended lees aging. At a minimum of 48months on their lees, his Champagnes age for over three times as long as what's required by law. Francis believes deeply that complexity and structure comes not only from perfect fruit, but also from extended lees aging. "Les Vignes di Bisseuil" is a unique and new cuvee in the Egly-Ouriet portfolio. It flips the script on the 'typical' blend from Egly-Ouriet. This Champagne is based on Chardonnay with only 30% of the blend being Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. It was aged for 48 months on its lees. " it's a superb addition to the range that nips at the heels of Egly's NV Brut Grand Cru.
